CFO of Philadelphia Archdiocese Embezzled $900,000 (USA Today)

Finance executive stole the money between 2005 and 2011.

Anita Guzzardi, a long-time finance employee for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty last week to stealing more than $900,000, according to a story in USA Today. Guzzardi, who had worked for the archdiocese since 1989, stole the money between 2005 and 2011. She was appointed CFO on July 1, 2011, but fired within weeks.

According to the story, prosecutors have recovered about $250,000 of the money Guzzardi stole. She will be sentenced Aug. 24.
