The U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan has launched a criminal investigation of whether company executives made improper trades in their companies' shares, the Wall Street Journal reports. The investigation involves seven executives named in a recent Wall Street Journal article about executives making trades just before the release of bad news about the company. According to the Journal, the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating one of the executives cited in the article, VeriFone CEO Douglas Bergeron.
