Colleen O’Sullivan has been promoted to CFO, treasurer and senior vice president of Career Education Corp., a $1.9 billion Shaumburg, Ill.-based provider of postsecondary education. She succeeds Michael Graham, 52, who is leaving to become CFO of JMC Steel Group. O’Sullivan, 45, at right, most recently served as the company’s chief accounting officer, corporate controller and senior vice president. She previously worked in senior finance positions at Hewitt Associates, Sears Holdings and Arthur Andersen.
Big Lots, the $5.2 billion Columbus, Ohio-based closeout retailer, appointed Timothy Johnson CFO and senior vice president. He succeeds Joe Cooper, who will concentrate on his role as president of the company’s Canadian unit. Johnson has served as Big Lots’ senior vice president of finance since July 2011. Since joining the company in 2000, he has also served as director of strategic planning and vice president of strategic planning and investor relations.
