The Internal Revenue Service paid a whistleblower $2 million for information about an alleged scheme by an Illinois tool maker to avoid taxes, according to the whistleblower's lawyer, AccountingToday reports. The whistleblower, who is anonymous, has won two previous awards from the IRS, according to the lawyer, one related to tax shelters that Wall Street banks set up for Enron. The lawyer describes the whistleblower as a "Wall Street insider."
