Banks these days look for CFOs who are well versed not only inaccounting matters, but risk management, compliance and finance,according to the American Banker, which says the broaderskills demanded of CFOs reflects the changes that have occurredsince the financial crisis.

One recruiter says banks are asking him for CFOs who can helpthem grow or lead the organization through a merger. He adds thatgreater attention paid to valuations in transactions puts moreemphasis on the CFO's role.

The story also notes that banks may switch CFOs after a new CEOarrives, since CEOs want to work with a CFO they can trust.
