Some Online Retailers Adding Brick-and-Mortar Stores (NYT)

A realization that some shoppers want and need the in-person experience.

Some former online-only retailers are finding there's no substitute for in-the-flesh shopping, The New York Times reports. Stores like Piperlime, a Gap unit, and Bonobos have opened stores recently, and other sites like EBay and Etsy are testing temporary stores.

As they go back to the traditional model, however, these online stores are operating as leaner operations, the Times reports, with less staff and inventory, which could signal a new efficient model for some stores in the future.
