For those U.S. companies worrying about not having enough financial information on their Chinese counterparts, help is on the way. Beginning sometime this summer, EDGAR Online will be offering Chinese company fundamental data from both the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) format.

Using EDGAR Online's I-Metrix content and tools, the information can be converted to a form that provides uniformity of presentation across different companies and multiple periods, making it easier to use and more comparable to U.S. filings. EDGAR Online will offer data from as many as 1,400 Chinese companies.
