Visa Inc., the newly restructured San Francisco-based company comprised of Visa Canada, Visa USA, and Visa International, named Byron Pollitt Jr. CFO. Pollitt, 56, joins the payments network operator from Gap Inc. Pollitt is succeeded at Gap by Sabrina Simmons, who is being promoted to executive vice president and acting CFO. Prior to his tenure as Gap's CFO, he spent 13 years with the Walt Disney Co., serving most recently as executive vice president and CFO of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Fannie Mae, the $50.1 billion mortgage finance company based in Washington, appointed Stephen Swad CFO. Swad, 46, has been serving as executive vice president and CFO designate since May. He replaces Robert Blakely, who resigned in August. Blakely remains with Fannie Mae as an executive vice president. From February 2003 to February 2007, Swad served as executive vice president and CFO of AOL LLC . Earlier, he was executive vice president of finance and administration at Turner Entertainment Group.

Blockbuster Inc., the $5.5 billion global provider of in-home movie and game entertainment based in Dallas, named Thomas M. Casey executive vice president and CFO. Casey, 49, will take over for Larry J. Zine, who has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the year. Casey comes to Blockbuster from Deutsche Bank Securities, where he served as managing director. Prior to Deutsche Bank, he assumed investment banker roles with Citigroup, Merrill Lynch and Dillon, Read.

YRC Worldwide Inc. named Stephen L. Bruffett CFO of the $9.9 billion transportation services provider based in Overland Park, Kan. Bruffett, 43, succeeds Don Barger, who has announced his retirement. Since Bruffett joined YRC in 1998, he has held various senior finance positions including corporate treasurer, treasurer, senior vice president of corporate development and head of investor relations. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of sales and marketing of YRC National Transportation.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. announced that Larry Hilsheimer will succeed Robert A. Rosholt as CFO of the $2.2 billion diversified insurance and financial services company with headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Hilsheimer, 50, joins Nationwide from Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, where he served in various capacities as partner, Columbus managing partner, vice chairman and regional managing partner. He was also a board member and played a key role in the development of market strategy at Deloitte.

IDT Corp. appointed Marc J. Oppenheimer executive vice president, CFO and treasurer of the $2.2 billion telecommunications and technology company based in Newark. Oppenheimer, 50, succeeds Steve Brown, who will remain as chairman of IDT Carmel. Oppenheimer has served as a lead independent director of IDT's board of directors since December 2006. Throughout his career, he has served as president of Octagon Associates Inc. and executive vice president of Kenmar Global Investment Management Inc.
