Financial Executives: Keeping Track

AllianceBernstein, a New York-based asset manager with $2.9 billion in 2010 revenue, hired Andrea Prochniak as director of investor relations and senior vice president. She succeeds Philip Talamo, who left late last year to join UBS. Most recently, Prochniak was vice president of financial communications at CBS, a job she held since 2008. Earlier, she worked at Morgan Stanley for nine years, most recently as executive director of investor relations, and spent three years as a journalist at Fortune magazine. She began her career as a securities analyst at Morningstar.

BATS Global Markets, an exchange operator based in Kansas City, Mo., that is expected to go public, named Brian Schell CFO and senior vice president. He replaces Craig Perrigo, who continues to serve as chief accounting officer. Schell, 45, is joining BATS from H&R Block, where he most recently was senior vice president of operations, support and development for tax services. In 16 years at H&R Block, Schell also served as CFO of tax services and of the financial advisers division. Prior to joining H&R Block, he worked at the FDIC and KPMG. He began his career as a financial analyst at JP Morgan.
