DirecTV, the $27.2 billion El Segundo, Calif.-based television provider, named Fazal Merchant treasurer and senior vice president. He succeeds Bill Little. Fazal, 39, formerly served as managing director at the Royal Bank of Scotland. Previously, he worked in investment banking at Barclays Capital and in finance at Ford Motor.

Eaton Corp., a $16 billion Cleveland-based manufacturer, named Trent Meyerhoefer senior vice president of treasury. Meyerhoefer, 43, previously served as assistant treasurer and vice president of the company's global treasury function. He joined Eaton in 1995 as corporate development manager after working for Andersen Consulting.

CVR Energy, a $5 billion Sugar Land, Texas oil refiner, named Susan Ball CFO and treasurer. She replaces Frank Pici, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Ball, 49, most recently served as chief accounting officer, assistant treasurer and vice president for CVR Energy and its subsidiaries. She served in the same position with Coffeyville Resources until it was acquired by CVR Energy, and earlier was a tax managing director at KPMG.

Electronic Arts, the $4.1 billion Redwood City, Calif.-based gaming company, appointed Blake Jorgensen CFO and executive vice president. He replaces Kenneth Barker, the company's chief accounting officer and interim CFO. Jorgensen, 52, joins EA from Levi Strauss., where he served as CFO. He has also been CFO of Yahoo and COO at Thomas Weisel Partners, a company he co-founded.

Williams-Sonoma, the $3.7 billion San Francisco-based home-furnishing retailer, named Julie Whalen CFO. She has been the acting CFO since March, when Sharon McCollam retired. Whalen, 41, has also served as the company's corporate controller and treasurer. She began her career as a public accountant at KPMG.

Rowan Cos., a $939 million Houston-based drilling contractor, named J. Kevin Bartol executive vice president of finance and corporate development, a new position. Bartol joined Rowan in 2007 as senior vice president of corporate development, after serving as CFO of Jindal Texas Works and founding Houston's Saint Arnold Brewing Co.

TETRA Technologies, an $845 million oil and gas services company in The Woodlands, Texas, appointed Elijio Serrano CFO and senior vice president. He replaces Joseph Abell III, who resigned. Serrano served as CFO of UniversalPegasus International and as CFO and executive vice president of Paradigm BV.
